Ah, well here's what happened:

I love to lurk around Livejournal essay discussions (i don't have an account anyway) and came upon one that among other things discussed the HP-verse magical creatures; one person expressed that it doesn't have to be female virgins that can get close to unicorns and gain their trust, simply virgins period. The next person exclaimed "But then Snape could go harvest his own unicorn horns and hairs!" And the rest of the people on the thread did the forum equivalent of cringing sympathetically. That notion stuck with me since then. And we both know the moniker attributed to Sherlock by Moriarty and agreed by Irene Adler.

So to answer your question: they're two famous male virgins with characteristics I find utterly fascinating, and I rarely think about one without thinking about the other.

And for the record, I can't see Snape making out with any canon male persons. In my headcanon he's not gay, but this picture you've drawn really invokes a certain feeling of repression, which in turn reminds me of him.

(I've taken to not chain reply because it automatically dissolves the previous reply's alerts I get on my personal page; i would very much like to keep them all, greedy bastard that i can be. :) )
